Occupational Therapy:
Shore ability Allied Health currently has one active discipline - Occupational Therapy. Our lead clinician, Clayton, has worked across a number of practice contexts, with extensive experience in aged care, paediatrics, assistive technology, home modification and mental health. Clayton has a passion for Occupation, and what he feels is the Occupational Therapists responsibility: Empowering people to engage in the activities of daily living that they want to, need to and are expected to do.
Clayton is passionate about the continuation of Occupational Therapy, engaging in ongoing practice supervision for Occupational Therapists working at Southside Physio in the Australian Capital Territory.
Pricing and services
Price:
All of our services are provided at an hourly rate of $193.99. Because of the complexity and the individual nature of this service, quotes and cost breakdowns are challenging, however all of our services are billed per hour.
Assessment:
To identify strengths and areas for improvement. This guides occupational therapy goals and intervention and quantifies required supports.
Report writing:
A document outlining specific recommendations for engagement: eg. assistive technology and equipment, home modifications, support requirements using an FCA,
Intervention:
Agreed upon implementation of therapeutic supports and intervention strategies during direct face to face sessions.
Care coordination:
Liaison with participant and support network with regards to clinical care or intervention to ensure holistic, person-centred care.
Research:
Research into conditions and therapy approaches to ensure quality clinical care.
Preparation of resources:
Resources and tools created specifically for the participant.
Travel:
Travel is divided equally among all participants that are seen on the same day,
Documentation:
It is a medico-legal required to document all of the services that we provide, completing clinical notes for each action that we take to provide quality allied health services.
Services we offer:
Below is a rough breakdown of the estimated hours and associated pricing of common services we offer. These have been provided based off of the average amount of time that these requests take to complete, discussions regarding pricing are always available and we work to ensure that the cost of our service is fair to all who access our service, while valuing the profession. Our clinicians will discuss the requirements to gather and present the appropriate information and discuss the final costings prior to the delivery of services.
Initial interview
An initial interview session is required prior to any further services. This appointment gives the clinician the opportunity to measure baselines, evaluate functional outcomes and assist in the development and progression of the participants therapy plan. The initial interview appointment allows us to clearly outline the services available, the services our clinicians recommend and the services that our clinician and the participant agree upon. Also, information that is required to provide reports inclusive of FCA reports, home modification reports, assistive technology reports and NDIS plan review reports is gathered during this appointment. A copy of the clinical note will be provided to ensure accuracy of information.

Ongoing sessions
Ongoing sessions are facilitated by following an outlined therapy program, allowing therapists to actively work towards therapeutic goals. Ongoing sessions can be utilised to facilitate the development of individualised interventions to engage in specific activities of daily living, to complete requirements for and facilitate the completion of reports, or to develop home therapy programs to be continued by participants informal supports. Ongoing sessions require the development and regular review of therapy programs.

Assistive technology prescription
Assistive technology prescription aims to fit the participants functional requirements with available and up to date equipment enables the participant to engage in their activities of daily living. The prescription process includes recommendation of equipment that the participant needs, assessment of the impact and risks of not acquiring the equipment, assistive technology trialling, and review of the equipment on delivery as well as further training as required. An extended session, or a number of sessions may be required to assess and document all assistive technology that the participant requires.

Functional Capacity Assessment
The functional capacity report is used to gain a clear, quantifiable understanding on the participants engagement in their activities of daily living. Assessments are scored and the participant receives a score which outlines the hours of care they require, their function compared to others within their age group and their objective functional performance. Assessment options include interviews, where a clinician will attend the participants living environment, self-scored subjective assessments, and direct observation in activities of daily living where the clinician will attend the activity environment to ascertain the participants functional engagement. Required assessments change based on the participants demographic, reason for assessment, diagnosis and complexity.

Home modification recomendation
Home modification recommendations outline the modifications required to enable the participant’s access to their home environment, the impact and risks of not modifying the environment, and how the modification of the environment is required to address symptoms of the participant’s diagnosis. This includes ensuring that the environment throughout the participants home facilitates their engagement in activities of daily living. An extended session, or a number of sessions with a qualified builder may be required to assess and document all areas that require modifications.

Plan review report
The plan review report is required to be completed following the completion of the agreed upon intervention period (if other required/relevant reports have not been completed during this period). The initial interview will be used as the baseline to compare and measure progress while engaging in therapy as compared to the participants current presentation. The review report is used to ascertain the attainment of therapeutic goals, the success of interventions and if further formal supports are required. The plan review report can be tailored to suit specific funding requirements such as National Disability Insurance Scheme or Home Care Package as required.
